ICAO EXCOM MEETING Date : 2021-03-10 Views : 7537

On 10 March, in its first meeting of 2021, the Executive Committee of the ICAO approved project proposals submitted by its vice presidents who represent each of the four regions. The purpose of the projects are to better meet the needs of members as they often have their own regional agendas.
The coops participating in the projects include UCA, OCB, NAMAC, and ORKOOP and NCC. UCA’s and NAMAC’s projects involve establishing more effective distribution channels to help farmers earn more incomes, OCB’s will identify potential members to increase the Americas’ representation in the ICAO, and the joint project by ORKOOP and NCC will focus on raising awareness of food waste. The participants will record the progress of their projects in detail and present the outcome at the General Meeting in December.
Unfortunately, not all members are able to participate in this year's projects due to limited resources. However, the Secretariat and the Executive Committee will work closely to ensure that a lot more coops can participate next year and that ultimately all members will be direct beneficiaries of ICAO regional projects.
Another important item approved in the meeting was the appointment of Mr. Kamarudin Ismail of ANGKASA (Malaysia) as the auditor of the ICAO. He will independently conduct an audit of the Organisation's finances and report the findings at the GM.
