NongHyup launches Safe Agriculture campaign
On 4 March,
NongHyup (NACF) and its insurance business NH Life Insurance held an official
ceremony marking the launch of a Safe Agriculture campaign at
Angseong Farmland in the city of Anseong.
The Safe Agriculture campaign aims to raise safety awareness
among farmers and help make Korean rural communities safer places, promoting
the government policy of delivering tangible improvements to farm safety.
NongHyup will be creating a new workplace safety program consisting of warm-up
exercises, information on how to operate farm machinery and prevent farm
accidents. The Korean agricultural cooperative will also be promoting the
campaign using a jingle and a campaign ambassador.
Safe Agriculture will also contribute to UN SDGs 3.9 and 8.8, which concern
workplace safety.
Sung-hee Lee, chairman of NongHyup, said: “Farm accidents are increasing due to
the ageing of Korea’s rural population and increasing use of farm machinery.”
“This campaign will raise awareness of farm safety and accident prevention
among farmers and broader society.”
